External eSATA Drive Dock Causing Transport Errors

I have an eSATA drive dock that ive been using to do ZFS sends (via Napp-It replicate jobs) to drives for offsite backup. Its a Thermaltake BlackX drive dock.

Ive noticed that this dock consistently gives transport errors (300-400 of them) when I am replicating a large dataset. The dataset is about 1TB in size but it gives errors between 500-800GB in I think. Smaller datasets have no issues, only the large one. Before the transport errors happen it works perfectly, 115MB/sec write speeds.

It has happened on three different drives (two WD Greens and a brand new WD Red 2TB). I have used different eSATA cables, two different SATA ports on my mobo, and two different internal SATA to eSATA adapter cables. Removing the BlackX from the equation lets the replicate job finish completely without any transport errors, even on the same SATA port that the dock was connected to. So its safe to say its the dock.

Is this a common thing? How does everyone else write to their external drives?
