External DVD burner suggestions?

Iäm looking to get a dvd burner and have decided to get an external one. Does anyone have any suggestions on whichone to get? I have been looking at the Lacie D2, experiences? other suggestions?
 
In all honesty, I feel that external burners are overpriced, and you would be better served by getting a good IDE recorder like the NEC 2500A and puttting it into an external USB2/Firewire case.
If you have your mind set on a dedicated external writer, I'd recommend the Plextor PX-708UF or Lite-On 851SX because the internal writers they're based on are very good.
 
Overpriced yes...

But I did some math, and getting a burner and an enclosure would be more expensive. From what I have heared the Lacie D2 has a pioneer burner in them.
the Plextor is really nice, but a bit out of my price range.

Anyone use the Lacie?
