Hey all. I'm in the market for a new external DVD burner and I was wondering what everybody's recommendations are. Speed is a consideration. Money really isn't.
1. external case made of aluminum and in the color you like best
2. get a standard internal ide DVD burner, maybe a Samsung 18x or the new LiteOn 20x
Put Burner in Case, plugin USB or firewire cable (i suggest firewire if you have it) and burn away.
The external drives you can buy pre-assembled really are overpriced and you never really get what you wanted. With the method above, you get EXACTLY the burner you wanted with a nice looking case to boot.
