Im hoping someone else saw this and may know more. Ok, on the WB's show smallville tonight, a hacker stole a hard drive from a system, took it to her workstation and just dropped it in a case kind of like iomegas peerless storage solution, but it took just a bare ide hard drive. Has anyone seen where to get one of these. I could really use one. If not, ill have to make one.

Thanks in advance.

sorry I was watchin Star Trek, not Superman :p

sounds like your run of the mill IDE drive caddy
(often incorrectly sold as "hotswap" capable)

the caddy that surrounds the bare HDD includes a bridgecard and power adapter so the caddy can then plug into a single data\power backplane connector

well i would have been watching star trek too, but it was a rerun :p, im not sure why, 3 shows and its reruns again. but anyway, do you have any links for them. i have not seen them and ive been searching, I totally understand how it would work and im willing to build one if i cant buy one. thanks.

i see what you are talking about, but thats not it. I actually own 2 internal enclosures and 2 external scsi enclosures like that. it was kinda like this

but you just dropped in a bare hard drive, it must have been firewire or usb because she did it on the fly. so im guessing that this thing must not really exsist, so ill buy what i need to build one this weekend at the computer show. ill post pics.
