external drive box problem??? help...

ok.. my sisters husbad bough an adaptec acs200 external hard drive enclosure... and he put the drive in just like the instructions said... and when he plugs it in windows comes up with "unknown device" and well there is no drivers for this box? anywhere... its supposed to be plug and play?? anyone else have a problem? or a solution?
