I'm going to be building a new extender/NAS box using this case and a StarTech SATADOCK22UE dual e-SATA drive dock. I'll be running either a Zotac Ion board or a Zotac 9300 board with an Intel e5300 cpu. I'm planning to use the stock cooler without the stock fan (in the case of the e5300) and add a 120-140mm fan to the top of the case as outlined here:

My question is whether or not I can use a standar 25mm thick fan (rather than the 20mm thick fan used in the build above) inside the mesh grill top if using the Intel stock cooler for the 9300 board or the stock Ion heatsink on the Zotac Ion board. Anybody try it in either scenario? I already have a couple of Nexus and Arctic cooling (PWM) 120mm fans that I could use without adding the extra expense.

I'll also be running a Seagate 7200rpm 2.5" drive and a slot loading, slim dvd burner inside the case below the motherboard--which I assume won't impact the above question except for potential heat generated. Thanks.

I tried it while waiting for the 20mm to get here. No dice. It hits on the MCP heatsink. Also, if you can, go for an IDE burner- the flat cables don't cause issue, but SATA stick up too high in some instances.

Also, if noone has the fan in stock, I bought 3, so just holler.

So, I take it you were using the Zotac 9300 ITX board? If so, what cpu heatsink were you using?
