Guys,

I replaced my power supply 2 weeks ago, with a different one.

All has been good until 4 days ago. I had issues playing Quake 3. Just would not play. Period.

Never had that problem before. But I had gotten a new MB and installed it and reloaded windows 1 month prior. So I figured it might be the install. SO I formatted, and reloaded windows. This time, Quake worked fine. But my Madden 2004 would not play. It would go in and then freeze.
Pisses me off.

At that time, I formatted again, and went to Windows 2000, instead of XP. This time, my machine would be slow and it would freeze loading my Santa Cruz drivers. I had to take it out and go with the onboard sound. Real weird shit.

Once I did this, it seemed ok. However, after all of this freaking work, I am starting to think it is my PS. It has good lines, but it is a generic. I have never spent much on PS's.

Opinions? I think I need to break down and go get me a good brand and be done with it.
 
Since a re-install helped, along with fixing various driver issues, i'd venture that it isn't your PSU, but still, as you thought, weird intermitent issues can often be attributed to the PSU. Next time you have the issue, try using your old PSU or disconnect some extra drives/cards/fans/etc. and see if that clears it up.
 
i somewhat had problems like your having (plus i had more) and everything got fixed after buying a UPS
