Exempt Admin from Group Policy Changes

Hello, I have 5 pc's I have to roll out soon and I have made lots of changes to the group policy (gpedit.msc) under 'user configuration->administrative templates'. But what has happened is not only are these changes applied to the users but ALSO the Administrator account. Obviously this is bad, can anyone tell me how to only have these settings affect the users and NOT administrator?

Is this in a domain or workgroup environment?

there is no domain but we do use a single common workgroup
