For example, if I was to sum a month's (occupying column B) expenses, it's easy: =SUM(Bx:By)

Without retyping it for each month, is there a way to copy the function for another column, so it'll read =SUM(Cx:Cy)?

Thanks!

Hover over the lower right corner of the cell the formula is in until you see a plus sign, then drag it right to the column next to it.

Hey, thanks!

edit:
Maybe this is an Excel '07/'10 thing, but I just found out I can also copy the cell, select all the destination cells, and Paste Special the formula and it automatically does the conversion for each column.

One more thing...

When you start doing more complex formulas and you have a reference that needs to stay put. Say a percentage of a total where b3 contains the percentage. like this...

=b3*sum(c2::c8)

You can keep excel from changing your references automagically by changing your formula to...

=$b$3*sum(c2::c8)

Now when you drag or copy your sum it will not change the reference to the cell b3

News to me. Thanks! Learn something every day :)
