I'm in a situation where I'm considering using a few cables to make a series about 1.254M long (10in past spec)
I can't find anything online where someone has actually experimented with this. Does anyone have any idea what will happen? Is this long enough to cause problems? What sort of problems will it cause?

I'm planning out a NAS and I'm thinking it would be advantageous to have the actual disks outside of the main case.
The topology I'm thinking would follow this layout:
Raid Controller -> SFF8087 Cable (.5M) -> SSF8087 to SSF8088 Adapter -> SFF8088 Cable (.5M) -> SSF8088 to SATA (ADP-887P-2X) -> SATA Cable (.254M)
If this doesn't work I'm stuck looking at something like the Lian-Li PC 343B which is a little huge. I could also get SAS drives, but that would add something like $5,000 to the build cost.
