Evil Genius

It's buggy, but still fun. It's a shame the developers went out of business, a part 2 of that game would have solved some of it's problems and polished it a bit.

That game really takes off once you get to the 2nd island :)

I loved it until the later levels. Then the constant flow of secret agents really got on my nerves. Gave it up after that. I guess i was just a bit poor at the game.

Aye...Too many agents invading later on, but still is a fun game nonetheless. Especially the interrogation sessions. (your interrogator does a real bad michael jackson impression that forces the captured spy to confess is one of the funnier ones)
I found that if you make your entrance way fairly long and trapped like all get out, it tends to thin out anyone who tries to break into your base.
Evil genius 2 would be really fun if they ever ressurect it again and fix some of the problems.

Sucks that Elixir Studios closed their doors. Evil Genius was pretty original as games go these days.

As for secret agents -- the key is to make them waste their time. Level 4 doors leading nowhere (they draw agents like honey), pop up targets (also saps their intelligence, and creates no heat). Another trick I use is to have two doors to my base in the one corridor -- a level 1 door to the world, with a level 2 behind it. Agents ignore level 1 doors, and the level 2 door keeps out the tourists.

The big thing, though, is to keep your heat down. Don't do missions every two seconds, don't kill agents if you can avoid it, make sure visiting tourists and agents leave with no heat and blue rings. Your global heat goes down if they leave with blue rings.

And yes, Red Ivan is fun to use. But he gets expensive if you have him fighting in your base.

Evil Genius is definitely one of the better games in terms of originality and art direction, although the plot of the game leaves much to be desired. Red Ivan is definitely useful, and traps are one of the best parts of the game!

The Evil Genius license was sold to Rebellion Studios after Elixir went under, although there isn't any news on a sequel. I would bet that there will be an Evil Genius 2 though, the IP definitely has a lot of potential for big money (get EA to publish, then the game will sell like hotcakes).

I'd have liked it a lot better if I was able to pause and issue commands. Other than that I thought it was a pretty good game.
