I need to upgrade my geforce 4 ti 4200 before doom 3 comes out. I have decided to buy a geForce 6800 gt. I would perfer to go with a bfg card but I highly doubt they will be availible by the time doom 3 comes out. On evga sight preorders will ship august second and I was thinking of putting in an order. Does evga have a good reputation? And if anyone else has one of there cards, do they overclock well becuase I want to be able to reach ultra speeds.

Thanks

I bought from them one week ago, ordered before 3 pst and it was shipped that day. Came with far cry (i do not like this game), Autodetect with coolbits2 went well past ultra speeds (428/1150.) Most people get higher doing it manually but I just did auto out of curiosity. Manually set mine to 400/1100 for 3d. I have had ZERO problems with this card, running the official WHQL drivers on a fresh install.

When viewing the temps it shows core temp of 55c when ambient is reported at 36c. Room ambient is about 10c below that.

I'm still trying to figure out whether I should get this because of the free Far Cry or just wait until the BFG's get in stock at my local Best Buy.

Since I already have farcry I will probally trade in or sell the game for money for doom 3. Thanks for the input, I will more than likely order the evga. What is there warenty like?

I called eVGA and asked them about the note that says "Will ship 8/2/04" and asked them what were the odds if i ordered today that i would be included in that shipment.
They said the odds are very likely and they are also high that it will ship before that date.
I already tried chumbo and best buy and canceled both... but eVGA seemed pretty confident in getting that card to me by 8/2/04 (plus it comes with FarCry so im saving 50 bucks by going with them

Did you just call them ore was this a while ago??

Hmm maybe i mght order it....

Here is my thought...My computer i plan to build will cost like 1800 with this vid card..but i leave for Otakon a anime convention on the 29th and wont be back till the first. So i dont want to order parts and have them get here just intime for me to leave. If i were to order all my parts on the 29th from newegg do you think they would arrive here before the 2nd.

THe video card shipping the 2nd would be th eonly diffrence in shipping. I also dont want to buy all this stuff a week early and then see the price drop lol

what do ya think

I dont think the price is going to drop anytime soon.. Simple Supply and demand. The cards are in such high demand that they cant even keep them in stock.. People will actually pay more than the MSRP (499.99 Newegg.com for a 6800 GT)

I called them today (7/26/04) around 3-4pm Central time

I'm gonna place an order for a GT at eVGA.com tomorrow when my paycheck clears :D Then I'm gonna doubletime it over to BestBuy for a Doom3 pre-order, then I'm gonna rush home, stare at the reciepts and act like a hermit until they come to my door.

I know that the Vid prices wont come donw..i mean the general other peices of the computer like the CPU...the 3500 just dropped in price actually.

I spoke with eVGA support this morning and that's not remotely close to what they told me. I'd call them again before ordering.

What did they tell you?

because if im going to call them back i want to make sure i know whats up 1st.
I wish I would of gotten the guys name

We landed two cards last Thursday, and a customer brought one back Saturday with blown resistors. I called to get an RMA, and of course, I should send it back to my vendor because "We're out of stock and replacement units won't be available for another 2-4 weeks".

Needless to say, I can't get any replacement stock at the moment.

An no, I do not have any beefs with eVGA, they make a good product and we've never had a single problem before now. I'm just letting you know they're telling me 2-4 weeks instead of 1. If 1 week is correct and my guy was wrong, I'll be VERY happy.

I suppose I'll call before I order tomorrow. Then I'll have my co-worker call and see what results he gets. I'll post if I find anything interesting.

guys if u goto evga.com forums u will see that people also talk to them and it says that if u order now the latest u will get ur card shipped is monday... that is THE latest... so it sounds like the first guy who called is right..
also with RMA it might be a different situation as it is not in their priority to replace cards because they lose money that way, so they give u different date.. or the guy was an idiot

at least i hope lol
