I just got my EVGA X58 SLI LE and my core I7 920 installed. When i first booted up one of my hard drives had bzzbzzbzzbzzbzzbzz (or something similar) where the drive information should have been. This hard drive was of course not recognized but i would like to know if any one else has seen this issue. Also, when i went to try to bump up the multiplier, it would only let me go to 20x (stock). however, when i turn on turbo mode, i get a multiplier of 21x. I dont understand this.

which drive is giving you issues? can you boot windows? did u check for any and all driver/firmware updates?

i have five hard drives total and all (including boot drive) showed up but the one.

The bump is Turbo mode. It gives 266 extra mhz when your running a single threaded app.

I haven't had any problems with mine (same board). Although I do only have one hdd. If you unplug them all except for that one drive, is it recognized?

can you increase your multiplier to over 20x? I am pretty sure you are supposed to be able to do that.

The max multiplier on the 920 is indeed 20.

I just upgraded over the weekend to system in sig. I have all 6 sata ports filled with drives, haven't seen problem. I'm guessing that drive has an issue.

Yeah Turbo gives you an extra 1 to the multiplier on core0 when taxed. However if you're OCing, you should turn it off temporarily if you're attempting to find your max OC.

what exactly do you mean where the drive information should have been. are you referring to the volume name? have you checked disk management to see how it is being recognized in there? also try running chkdsk /r from cmd, may be corrupt file system.

The drive information i am referring to is in the bios. It will not recognize the drive in windows at all.

ahhh, okay. my only suggestion at that point is to make sure its not the port on your motherboard but sounds like defective hd to me

Edit: forgot to get an answer from u...does windows disk management detect the drive bc if so u may be able to rescue it (although probably not ur data)

going to try to change out the sata cable today and see it that helps any (mainly to reconnect everything again). the disk management did not recognize the drive at all last time it was hooked up. Funny thing is, my computer would try to start the bios and then shutdown with that hard drive installed. then would come back on with that message about the bzz and then boot.
