Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I have a GTX580 that was never registered that I bought used. Does the new warranty process apply to this card as well? Do I have to register it as I might sell it and upgrade soon?
"All products purchased ON or AFTER July 1st, 2011 include a 3 year limited warranty from the date of purchase to the original owner with a valid invoice. For original owners without a valid invoice and users that have not purchased the product from an authorized reseller, the warranty begins from the date the product was shipped from EVGA's warehouse."
"Products purchased ON or AFTER November 1, 2006 MUST be registered within 30 days of the ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE to receive EVGA's Free Extended Warranty. All products not registered within 30 days will ONLY receive a 1 year limited warranty."
You're toast as far as I know. Back when the 580 was sold I'm pretty sure there was a "within 30 days of purchasing NEW" policy, and you had to have the original invoice too. The warranty terms DID change (eliminated lifetime warranty, no registration required, etc) near the end of the 580 days (before they introduced the 680) and your card may or may not be covered by the new warranty.
