I just won the bidding on a new EVGA 03G-P3-1595-AR GeForce GTX 580 Classified ULTRA and since the seller claims that he doesn’t have the receipt; I was a bit concerned when I did some dd on registering it. Some posters said that you’re SOL without an invoice from an approved reseller but that conflicts with what Evga has to say:

“All products purchased ON or AFTER July 1st, 2011 include a 3 year limited warranty from the date of purchase to the original owner with a valid invoice. For original owners without a valid invoice and users that have not purchased the product from an authorized reseller, the warranty begins from the date the product was shipped from EVGA's warehouse. Registration is recommended.” http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/

To the best of my knowledge the 580 Classified Ultra card was released sometime in 12/2011, so according to the info above that is ~ when my warranty would start?

If what you post here is correct, then you have fulfilled the criteria.

1) you didnt buy the card from an authorized reseller.
2) you have no receipt.

I'm not sure you can register without a receipt, it's been a while since I had an evga card. If you can, then do it. EVGA will have on record when the item left their hands. Yo can call then to evaluate when your warranty starts.

They did just start warranty by serial number,(no paprework needed) so you should have a solid 3 year warranty.:D

Your warranty started whenever Evga shipped the card out. You can check excactly how much warranty is left by going to their guest rma page and inputting the serial number.

This right here. If you had a valid receipt, warranty is good from the date of purchase. In your case, it would be lifetime because it's AR. However, since you don't have a receipt from a valid re-seller, you get a warranty that is good for 3 years from SHIP DATE.

Put your card's serial number here and it will tell you your ship date and warranty terms.

Thanks for the assistance. When I input my cards serial number I found that it was shipped on 03/2012, so when I registered it I got almost a full 3 year warranty, which was nice as that’s ~ the same warranty as most cards.

The Classified Ultra is a beast, size wise, power wise and performance wise and considering what I paid for it, I’m :)

It is good to see companies warranting items based on the serial number rather than owner or invoice.

This makes it so much easier to trade items when you upgrade, or to buy from an EBay vendor.

Would it be best to not register a card that has a ship date of 4/2/12 if I was planning to sell it in two years (so a transferable warranty would be desired)?
