EVGA vs. XFX

If you want to upgrade every three months, then evga.

But if you're like me and keep your card for more than a year, then XFX. They have an edge because of the double lifetime warranty, so you can resell it with the card.

umm with XFX its the same deal no? if you dont need to include the receipt then how do they know who originally bought it?

The one who registers the card the first time is considered the one who originally bought it I think.

I was going to post the same question but thought id use that beautiful search option... :D

I spec'd out 2 machines from help on this site... 1 for myself and 1 for my boss... well mine fell through... wife slapdown.. :(

anyhow...

xfx 780i
q6600
xfx 9600gt x 2
2 - 2x2gb patriot extreme ddr2-800 for 8gb!!!!!!
antec 900 case
corsair 620 modular p/s
750gb sata hd
sata burner

now he ordered up but only 1 video card.... but now he wants to put the second in...

I have had a xfx geforce 6200 then a xfx geforce 7950gt

6200 died after a year or 2 and replaced with the 7950gt
7950gt died after 3 days.. not sure why...
rma'd it and viola..new card and up and running..
thought about it.. and the 6200 was also under lifetime warranty...
rma'd it and got it replaced....

the support with xfx has been far beyond what I could imagine from a video card manufacturer.... thus my decision to spec a machine with Mobo and vids from XFX

my only problem now is that i Have been getting up some cash and ready to buy the mobo first.. but seems it is out of stock on newegg...

so guy at work was looking at the asus 780i and most likely what he is going to buy.. I told him to google the mobo and find the xfx.....

also my boss has his machine up and running
vista 64bit.. he said everything was a snap.
he installed vmware and installed xp within that vmware..he said from start to finish in 10 minutes..now that is fast!!!!!!
he has a 360 for gaming so he doesnt have much to benchmark..
but he does have crisis and he is getting 33fps at 1600x resolution.... good or bad im not sure....

all this and all I needed to really say was...

XFX ALL THE WAY!!!!!

oh yeah... now after readings.... seems the 3xSLI is only with the 8800 ultra or 8800 gt video cards!!!!! at $400+ each that is not cheap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only had one nVidia card experience - it was a card my friend bought (XFX 7900GT) and I installed in his machine.

A couple of days later it stopped working. Next I had an email exchange with XFX customer service, check a few things with them, and they told me to send the card back.

4 days later, a new card showed up, and had worked great ever since.

It is because of this experience that I give XFX an edge, and are concidering them over the other brands.

I had two XFX 7800GTs for a while. They overclocked well and were problem free. When I upgraded, I transferred my warranty to my buyer when I sold them. He took over the warranty and I never heard a complaint.

I've had no problems with XFX or Evga. If you resell your cards when you upgrade or get bored of them, XFX is a better choice. If you are the original buyer you can transfer your lifetime warranty and that builds value. You will get a better price that way, than selling a card with no warranty.

I got my XFX 9600 GT yesterday and installed it today. My 3DMark06 is hilarious. Going from a 256 MB 5700 LE and 150 points, I am now at 6000+, LMFAO!!!

one thing i just wanted to add (sry if i missed seeing this posted earlier) but not only does xfx support overclocking... you really dont need to overclock since they usually have the faster clock speeds without the "overclocked" label.

*note* i do like the support rail on the side as well :D its a nice touch on such a huge card... even if its not necissary its still nice.

+1 for this scenario:

Step-up in 90 days? = EVGA
Resell next year? = XFX

remember to register your card online with either brands.

Well I finally received my replacement card today. They ended up giving me an 8600GTS, and yup im kinda pissed. I bought my 7900GT for $279 it died in less than a year, went through the trouble of going throught the RMA process, not to mention being without a my main videocard for over 2 weeks, and they send me a slower $129 card in return.

So in the end I have to say service from XFX was really good, but I got kinda screwed on the actual product... :(

evga is in brea, ca so RMA was really quick the only time i had to. thus i stick with them. I am enjoying my new 8800gts from them very much :D

I may have my old 7950gt agp sold for $150... so will transfer warranty...
and buy my second xfx 9600gt... however I just noticed that the one I bought was the 700mhz.. but now they have a 740mhz... I know... you never keep up with technology and will never have a truely updated system.... so now I have to buy a second 700mhz.... so will be the 2nd fastest factory clocked xfx 9600gt....

although on the bright side... here is my scenario..
thought about buying the xfx 9600gt 650mhz... but figured for the $20 id go with the 700mhz...

I already occed my 700mhz to 800mhz without a problem.....
but will wait till I get my second one to oc them together... (although coming from an old p4 I may not need to oc at all as this system is running saweet!!!!!!)

so second video card order tomorrow ( only if guy takes my old card) and order a 24" at end of month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
