Hi there. Can anyone tell me if ES Chips work on the EVGA SR2. Currently i have tried X5570 and E5506ES chips but both times i get the pc to boot but it gets stuck in the boot sequence at NVRAM check and then code 04 is displayed

Thanks for any help in advance

yes ES chips will work. I am not sure what the 04 code is. try starting with default bios settings (i would just change to ahci if running ssd and maybe a couple other basic settings) and boot into windows. after you know you can get into windows fine and it updates any missing drivers; then you can go back into the bios for any changes.

Well with help here from members i got my ES chips to work on a modded BIOS. They did not work on the BIOS that came with the mobo

it depends on the ES chip, the non modified SR-2 bios are very picky. best option is to find some modded bios.

It would depend on what microcode and what stage of silicon you were talking about. Early ES chips can sometimes be a crap shoot with retail boards.
