EVGA RMA process

Hello, I need to RMA my GTX 570 video card. It locks up and displays crazy weird artifacts and even turns the whole computer screen blue. However, it works okay if I don't play any games. If I send this in, I am without a video card, so is there any way EVGA will issue a replacement then I can turn it in? The video card is at stock clocks and voltages.

TIA

edit - it keeps popping up a notice saying the display driver crashed. It just did it now.

Call them and ask. They actually have live humans on call for customer support.

yep just call them up and they will take care of you. hopefully you registered the card within 30 days of buying it. even though they will still take care of you but it will be a one time courtesy then you are on your own after that.

Guys, I should clarify, I bought the card only a week ago from Newegg. Newegg will only issue a refund since the item is out of stock. It's Saturday so I figured they are not on call. Just wanted to know your opinions first!

Thanks

Hum. Tough call. This is one of the reasons to own an intel i5 cpu with IGP and one of the main factors for me when I purchased my i5-2500k.

I would definitely say you probably do not want to RMA a video card if you dont have to. In this case, you are kind of screwed either way. EVGA does RMA fairly quickly so....that might be worthwhile. It kind of sucks to do though with a recently purchased video card. As you said, nobody is going to be able to even start any process until Monday now.

Anyways, for the future, you should always plan for video cards failing. Buy a cheapo $15AR GT 520 or 5450 so you can at least have a working system. So if you dont have an processor with IGP, get some cheap low end vid card instead.

I think EVGA's advanced RMA is purchased like a service plan. Even if they offered to do it for free, seeing how the card is new I'd return it to the vendor anyway.

You could always temporarily "rent" a video card from Best Buy. :)

Wait, did I say that out loud....

LOL, not my style. Anyways, I'd probably end up forgetting to return it and get stuck with an overpriced GPU.

Yeah, but it'll be a refund, I want to keep the same card. I hope they'll be able to work something out, if not I guess I have to return it.

You have to register and pay for the advanced RMA "feature" on their website. Just know that it's a one time thing and don't spend $45 for overnight unless you have that kind of cash to light on fire.

You may want to consider getting a refund and just buying one of the GTX 480's that newegg has for sale right now for like $209, that will probably be ~$100 less than you paid for your 570, and just about the same performance.

There is no way I'll pay for shipping any sort of way for a card that is defective. If they're not willing to RMA it, then back it goes to newegg! Thanks guys, didn't know about the advanced RMA feature.
