OK so I have a Very old 7900GT that has been in my kid's PC. Well its artifacting bad, and did a ticket to Evga .I was curious what will the replacement be?

Nvidia gt210 or gt220? Thats about how fast it is. Who knows you might get lucky.

I RMA'd a 256MB 7900GT several years ago. It was a few years past the 7900's release so was also intrigued.

I got a 512MB 7950GT instead.

they most likly still had stock lol. I do miss the BFG Rma stuff, I RMA'd an FX5900Ultra BFG last spring, and got back a BFG GTX260 216 :D

well if its any indication when I RMA'd a 6800GT 2 years ago, I got a GTS250 lol
Nice. XFX only gave me an 8500.

Unless they have some older fixed cards on hand, happy medium's probably right about what you'll get. The 7900 was a great card in its day; the 220 has about 3x the shader power (modern games are typically shader bound making it the best comparison number), and isn't too far behind on texture performance. The 210 is much closer on shader power; but falls far behind on everything else.

A 220 wouldn't be equal, I had a 7900GT, an 8600GTS was a serious downgrade and the 8600GTS and 9500GT are faster than the GT220

They'll probably send you an ATI card for shits and giggles.

You may get an 8800 gt or something similar if you're lucky. I rma'ed a 9600 gt and received a 8800 gt superclocked.

A 8600gts would be easily faster than a 7900gt. I hope your kidding?
Look at the specs.

Here is a chart showing a 8600gts = 2 7900gt's in SLI in Call of Duty 4.
Even the slow ass plain 8600gt is just a hair slower than a 7900gtx.

something is wrong in those charts, it shows a few cards in SLI running slower than the Single card.
GTX 280 shows 178fps for Single, and 147fps for SLI, and a Single GTX 260 running only 1fps slower than an SLI'd 280.
Is there something wrong with SLI and that game?

yea I agree, also I ran a side by side in 2007 when the 8600 came out and bought a GTS and benchmarked it, it was slower than my 7900GT.

Forget the sli scores, just look at a single 8600gts vs 7900gt.

1280x1024 max settings...................
COD 4) 8600gts 44.70 vs 7900gt 29.70
Assasins Creed) 8600gts 22.80 vs 7900gt 18.90
Crysis) 8600gts 13 vs 7900gt 7.9
Quake Wars) 8600gts 56 vs 7900gt 56
Half Life 2) 8600gts 52 vs 7900gt 44
Mass Effect) 8600gts 32.60 vs 7900gt 19.90

3d mark 06) 8600gts 5901 vs 7900gt 4725

The 8600gt looks more = to a 7900gt.

At the end of the day take whatever they give you for a 6+ year old card with good grace.

It's times like this, when I am mad that I never registered my old 8800GTX(which is fried) back in the day.

Ugh

i myself and many other people at the time received a nice 8800GTS 320Mb card as a replacement to my EVGA 7900GT 256Mb card over a year ago....probably wont be now, something newer i am sure

RMA a 7900GS two years ago and got an 8800GT.

RMA the 8800GT twice the past two years and still got an 8800GT.

well seems EVGA is trying not to rma the card. Keep having answer stupid question's. Over 23 emails for 4 day's. These card were known to have bad RAM weren't they?

yes they had ram issues with those actually.....i wouldn't play their game anymore. i would be asking them if 24 emails and 4 days of your time is standard procedure for honoring their warranty?

I RMA'd an 8800GTX and got a 9800GTX+ in Jan '10... I guess it was an upgrade. I don't know why Nvidia decided to lower the vRAM in that generation.

Stop being lazy and make a phone call.

This. Actually, if you want ask for someone in particular ask to speak to Joe Darwin. He is in charge of some things there. Any time he gets involved things get sorted quickly. I've worked with him personally.

WOW They sent me another 7900GT!? after 6 Years they actually have some left? WTF everyone gets a better up grade replacement, And I get same old card lol.

EVGA has been working out the new SKUs to resolve the issues that some users are experiencing with artifacting during 3DMark06 and random games; we have been manufacturing new cards based on a new AVL list.
Here are the details on the new 7900 cards:
"New" AVL Memory (Approved Vendor List)
RoHS compliant
Test results are extremely positive

they did a 7900 reboot apparently, must have still had some because by the time they had this in place most of the originals had already been replaced with something else, so they probably never got to sell all of these because the 8 series was probably not far behind

I'd be happy that they are still honoring it. Most companies just have a 2 year. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you dont.

With good grace? What? If they offer a lifetime warranty they better deliver something of equal or greater performance. That warranty is a selling point, not a sticker, and they sure as hell better honor it.

seriously dude....6 years? whats it worth on the used market....$20 maybe? things depreciate you know....they replaced it with the same card which is more than adequate. With good grace indeed.

I just did an RMA on a 8800GTS 320 about a month ago. the first day it said they were sending me back the same card. the next day wehn I checked they had changed it to the GTS450. I think their system just assumes they can send you back the same card and once they figure out what is in stock they update it with what your really going to get.
