This is the psu trying to run off a evga nf690i with a evga 8800gtx. Board lites up when psu is on but will not post or even turn any fans. Is this psu too small to even try using. I've switched out the 8800GTX for 6200turbo cause its the only pcie card i've got on hand and still does the same. I've try with 1 stick of ram a e6600 with pre9060 hsf from alpha. It showed post with the cpu video and memory, but I get nothing. I have one other psu but its running rig 1 in sig and I won't be able to swap and try it untill maybe monday (11/27/06) and I can't purchase something else untill after next friday. I've got a SilverStone ST75ZF in loaded in amazon for next friday. I've double check the connectors from motherboard to case (Lian Li g70) and tryed shorting the pins to see if that was it. Hooked up a pata drive and sata drive, same ol same no post, only thing I can think of is board is doa or psu is not enough. With all the new stuff on this board I think a eps v2.2 should cover all as aspire does not have 8 pin connetor or enough 6 pins for 8800gtx. Can anyone think of anything I might have missed. The last board I built was for a freand on 939 socket and I have not upgraded mine since socket 754.

Thanks.
:)

It's a shitty PSU, that's why. A 680i board and an 8800GTX and you're using a cheap PSU to power it all, it doesn't even have the proper connections. That said, you're getting your Silverstone, which is a good thing.

Do the fans at least twitch or do they do nothing at all?

Sounds like the board may be shorting on the mobo panel.
Try placing the board on a box and booting it up. Need to rule that out first.
I had the same problem.
Upgrading your psu is still a good idea. ;)

Fans did try to start first time trying it. I also tryed out of case and shorting the pins. This build has to be the most I've spent ever. Case is Lian Li G70 from newegg cost 225, the motherboard and cpu got from clubit for 571 when hardocp had it link up after release of 680i boards, got a alpha pre6090 hsf from frozencpu for around 89 bucks with a panaflo fan and videocard ran the most from newegg at 725. After the last videocard purchase from overclockersuk which cost over 500 bucks and took like 6 months to rma and get a good one back I wanted someone close by that was good if I had problems with this card. I am not bragging about how much I spent just that Its taken 3 months to get to this point and I still need to get a psu, sata2 drive, os (winxp pro) and dvd burner. Money is tight but sooner or later should be able to finish this build and sell my linux box then make my current gaming rig my linux box and be done.

Just got a psu tester and checked 3 psu's just to confirm that tester was good. Tryed on Aspire 520w, shuttle 250w and hiper 580w. Both the hiper and the shuttle's were able to get readings on 12v, 5v and 3.3v rails, the aspire did not even light up at all. So the 520w is either dead or no good either way I still have to wait till thurs night/fri morning before getting new psu for new rig. I'll post back later as I can now shutdown mainrig and see if I can get system to post on the hiper. I may stop off at bb friday morning if I can wait or get the 750w I got on hold at amazon.

Used shuttle pc's psu as one of the testers. Thats how it shows if it works, on the hiper 580w looked the same, and aspire would not even light up at all.

I would have thought you could get away with 580watt.

the reason I say this is everything else is quite efficient like the ram and the cpu so this should help everything . But 8800gtx sli would be a problem

It's not really a 580W PSU he's using, it's a rebranded Seventeam 500W unit, as far as I can remember.

Get... Rid.... of... That... psu... pos !!

They use fake advertisement and the labeling is very misleading... It can even catch fire on occassion ;)
