EVGA i780 BIOS VCore Voltages

I'm very confused about the voltages on this BIOS..

I'll set for instance 1.28v under VCore. When I restart and go back into the BIOS it will show the "current voltage" as something less, like 1.24..

When I go into XP and run CPU-Z, it will confirm that "current voltage" as 1.24.

My question is, why isn't the vcore voltage locking in what I set it? It seems to always be lower.

This problem is quite common with this line of chipsets 680i and 780i which both use the same pcb setup. You probly have to pencil it with a 2B drawing pencil first before the voltage with stop dropping off like that.

My 680i is also bad it has a .2v drop Ive heard of drops as bad as .8v, this link will show you all the sweet spot on your motherboard.

Also open up CPU and prime95 or superpi and watch to see if the voltage drops under load if so you'll need to do this mod.

I did this mod on my 680i, http://www.overclock.net/motherboard-volt-mods/256560-i-just-did-vdrop-mod-evga.html. It worked for me, a # 2 pencil rubbed acouple of times across between the 2 spots marked in blue. Vdroop was almost gone but be careful. You just do it alittle then go back in bios and see what the actual voltage is then repeat till you get the results you want.

I haven't done it on my 780i but they are the same. On my 680i I set voltage to 1.525 to get my oc after this mod. with my 780i and no mod I have to set it at 1.5875 to be stable.
