Ok so the hype has gotten to me  and i broke down and ordered an eVGA 6800 GT from monarchcomputers.com

~430 shipped but they take paypal..., not as bad as what they are charging for the Ultras, which they dont even have in stock.

any have experience with eVGA, build quality, customer service/warranties?

I havent heard anything bad about them, but if your spending that kind of $$, look around for a BFG card, they are good as a company all around

yes i was looking for a BFG but noplace that takes paypal has them in stock
(paypal works for me because i can transfer from bank account online instead of needing to use a CC - mines maxed from previous upgrades  )

oh and i did do *some* looking around the net on eVGA but have seen nothing bad, just wondering if any [H]'ers had anything to say about the company

I hated the GF2 mx200 they sold me, no heatsink not even a passive one. ;) Other than that, all quiet on the western front.

As far as I know they sell reference cards, so unless nvidia's own design sucks, it should be fine. But check and make sure they have a good warranty on whatever you buy. At least 3 years.

My GeForce4 was an eVGA. Quality card, I never had any problems with it other than getting spanked around by ATI cards performance-wise. :p

In the past, eVGA has been the company you go with when you want to buy a card that's fairly cheap while still being of respectable quality. I currently use an eVGA card, and have no complaints.

Ordered mine from Monarch on Tuesday and it still hasn't shipped. Hopefully it ships today so I can have it for the weekend. Also, looks like they are gouging now. It was only $399 when I ordered it.

I ordered my evga 6800gt tuesday night at 9pm. There was an attempted delivery at my house today at noon(now i gotta wait a few hours before i can go pick it up tonight  )

Anyway...I called evga to make sure they have them instock, i didnt feel like sitting on the phone going through menu's for 5 minutes so i hung. They saw my number on there callerID list and called me back 10 minutes later!

Now thats good service!

Anyway...The reps of the company post in there forums and such and they seem to be a very down to earth company.

plus they seem to be the only company you can order from and it will get shipped out the same day(im talking hundreds of orders a day)

eVGA was and I think still are one of the few companies that follow Nvidia's reference designs completely. They've always been a laugh partner of their new cards. I have a Ti4600 of their's...never had a problem with it.

basically what im saying is Customer Service has been great so far

Company techs post in there forums alot

Im picking up the card in a couple hours, im sure it will be as good as the others with evga has said

evga is the ONLY place that has 100's and 100's of these cards ready to ship right now. Best Buy is also, but they are all preordered so...

425.00+shipping when i placed my order earlier today, its now up to 445.00

Just checked the egg thier charging 540.00 for the chaintech 6800 GT WTF???now thats some gouging for ya, guess even they have to make a buck...

i got my evga in the mail today i placed the order 2 days ago,

6800gt
425/1.17= 3d2003 12440

ive hit 450 easily with it and looped 3dmark03 but i need that second molex connector to o/c higher

it doesnt have lots of extras or anything but its built very solidly. im sure if i waited 6 months i could get a better overclocking card with more extras and even a lower price.

but i want to upgrade to the latest and greatest next summer also,

I've owned two eVga cards in the past. When they didn't work right, their website was actually very helpful with easy to find drivers and FAQs. I have had zero problems with their product or their service. Hope this helps :D

From what I've heard, all eVGA cards are actually produced by nvidia, so I would suspect it'll be good. I also have a 5700u which I am very happy with.
