evga geforce 6800 compatibility problem?

I'm running a socket 754 AMD 3200 CPU, with an eVGA GeForce 6800 AGP 8X 128MB DDR Video Card w/TV-Out & DVI Retail, and an Abit KV8 PRO Via K8T800 Pro Athlon 64 Skt754 DDR ATX Motherboard w/Audio, Gigabit LAN, Serial ATA Retail....

And I'm having some problems. I'm getting a beep..............beep................beep.................beep........., etc....on start-up. So I called a computer repair guy and he's telling me that I may either have a faulty video card, or that it may be incompatible with my system.

Anyone know for sure on this. It's disappointing as it was my first build, and I'm not even sure where to start trouble-shooting.
