evga e758 northbridge fan

the northbridge fan on my evga e758 motherboard is starting to get too noisy.
I have seen fanless northbridge heatsinks, is this a viable option for me? Would it cool well enough? I have great airflow in my case. I also wonder if one would fit there considering the size of my coolermaster v8.
Any input/advice appretiated

Put it on a fan controller, watercool, or use an IFX-05 (which you will also need to get something for your Southbridge).

I took it off and zip tied a silent 80mm fan to the NB heatsink. Works great.

How did you ziptie an 80mm fan to it? It doesn't look like it has any real retention holes.

The ifx-05 is one i was looking at. So i would also need something for my southbridge why? It is just connected w/ heat pipes i thought... so that wouldnt be enough if i went passive cooling on the north?

Connected to what? If you install the IFX, your SB becomes naked. The stock HSF is a one piece that covers the NB and southbridge, remove it and you lose cooling to both.
