evga 8800 GT (Need help)

Hello everyone, I have been having problems recently with my evga 8800GT video card.

The first problem is noticed at the Windows Splash Screen, where everything is messed up, I could almost describe it as looking like the matrix. When, I get to the desktop however, everything seems fine, except that the resolution is really low. I tried going into the properties to change this, but not all of the supported resolutions were available. I then tried going to the nvidia control panel only to realize it was not there. I figured this must've been a driver problem. I went into the device manager and there was a little exclamation mark next to the evga 8800GT and when I checked the properties there was an error code that read "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" I looked at the driver info, and I have the latest drivers installed. I tried re-installing drivers, in, and out of safe mode; reformatting my computer, re-seating the graphics card, switching PCI-E slots, all to no avail.

My specs are
Asus P5K-E Wifi-AP mobo
Crucial Ballistix 2x1GB 1066mhz DDR2
E8400 processor at 3.2Ghz
600W OCZ PSU
and of course the 8800GT.

If anyone could help me with this problem, or give my any insight into possible solutions that'd be great.

my bfg 8800 is a pita in my computer as well...i ended up leaving the vga enabled in the bios, so it boots all the way to the windows splash with vga, then the drivers kick in and windows switches to the 8800 and my screen goes black. at this point, i have to switch to hdmi signal manually (in the monitor settings). i just have windows preferences and nvidia cp set to disable the vga montior and use only the 8800

i also had to delete the hp my display software, as it had 3 programs trying to control the same thing, windows settings manager, nvidia control panel, and my display.. deleteing mydiplay helped alot but didnt stop the startup issues.

WOW! Lol, I just checked it out on youtube, that's pretty intense. Haha, really thought you were pulling my leg with that one. I can't believe that's legit and it works, awesome.
 
there is also info how to put on a variable resistor so you can vmod it for oc
