eVGA 6800nu oc'n issues

I recently purchased an evga 6800nu 128meg card from monarchcomputer. Out of the box I was only able to get the core to 350mhz, and the mem to just 710mhz. :eek: I have it hooked upto a coolmax 400w psu, on a dedicated cable. Seems kinda weak when I hear people are averaging 380/800 oc's when I cant get past 350/710. I've checked the temp's and its averaging 53c idle. Any bits of advice from the [h] community?
 
I wouldn't call it an issue. Overclocks are not gauranteed no matter what video card you buy.

Good luck in getting it higher though. The only thing I can suggest is make sure that the case is getting enough air to keep it cool.
 
Ouch, yeah, that is a low overclock. My leadtech 6800nu does 400/900. And the PNY 6800nu I had for a while did 400/850, if I recall.

Are you letting that auto overclock feature in the drivers find the clock, or did you manually increase it and found you could not go higher?
 
If i use "Detect Optimal Frequencies", the bar starts counting up, screen goes blank, and I'm left at the default of 325/700. I've pretty much stuck to manual overclocking to see if I can get anywhere. I'm seriously considering the stepup program, cause I was hoping I could get a little bit of oc'n out of this card.
