eVGA 6800NU not performing correctly

I bought my eVGA Nvidia 6800NU around Christmas time, and I have been having problems with it's performance and overclocking.

Detecting optimal frequencies gets it only about 5 clocks above stock, and I can get the core to about 365 but memory only to about 725. My friend who has this exact same card, but purchased a few months before I did, could get his core up around 383 and memory to over 800. This was before he had bought his NVsilencer.

I'm starting to wonder if it's a faulty card, because I've been getting performance issues. Comparing with him, we both ran at stock speeds playing CS:S and BF2 and he has about 20-25 more fps than I do.

I might try to RMA it and see if I can get a better performing card, I really doubt that they would send a new one though.

Unless the card mysteriously dies (Or with a little help )

Yeah im really kinda sad. I want more power! Not that i Really need it or am playing a high-end game (bf2 should be here by monday!) but...still kinda disappointing. I've been holding off on putting on my zalman fan in case(hoping) something goes wrong and gives me a reason to RMA...

But yeah, i feel your pain.

Have you run any benchmarks or anything to compare to your friends card with? I'm sure that that would help a lot more to see if your card is actually running under where it should be.

I've run 3dmark before, but I'm not sure about my scores.

When I get home I'll run 03 and 05 and tell you what I get. Can't compare with my friend as he is in Florida.

OH and by the way, I have the pipes unlocked atm, but when we compared we both had them locked.

heres an idea, i have the same card as you... run a CSS VST at default everything and post the frame rate, i shall do the same

Yeah ive read a lot about how its basically 50/50 whether or not you get a card where you can unlock the pipes. I shoulda called heads...

Its called the OC gamble. Win some lose some but the house always wins.

Manufacturers don't gaurentee overclocks and pipe unlocks. All they gaurentee is that the card runs as it should at stock speeds.
