What do you guys feel to be the best aftermarket coolers for these cards, i am looking to buy a new cooler but I don't know much about them, right now my temps at load max out around mid 80's and idle at around 58-63, I really want to try to get my temps down and overclock better. at this point my auto detect for overclocking is core 391 and ram 1.8. do you think that better cooling will give me a better autodetect?
 
Better cooling is definitely the most important step to take. Your best options are either getting a STASIS IceStorm (www.stasisthermal.com) or going with a good watercooling setup.
Not only will your autodetect jump higher, but your card will be more stable and last longer.
 
1800 MHz on the mem is a pretty high autodetect, sure it wasn't 1080 MHz? I got the NV Silencer 5, but if I had to do it over again, I'd get the Zalman VF-700cu.

The Stasis IceStorm is a monster of a cooler. I would highly recommend. Whether it improves your overclock depends on a number of factors, but for temperatures that high, you will want to improve your cooling. I use the IceStorm and my autodetect didn't get any higher, even though my temps are 15-20C lower. But that's cuz my PSU sucks.

You may or may not notice an improvement in your clock speeds with any aftermarket cooler, but like consumer9000 says, keeping it cool will make the card live longer.
 
yes, you are right, it is not 1800 for my ram autodetect, it is 1.08, i got a freind sending me a NV silencer 5 rev 2, i read a review about it and it rated pretty well. for the money i have to go with the silencer, in a few weeks, or a month and a half or so i will be redoing my hole system and going pcie and selling my 6800gt to another freind .

The NV Silencer 5 is a good cooler, but there are some flaws. The exhaust system is somewhat crippled by a rather large L-shaped "cut-out hole" and the fact there is about a 1/2" gap between the plastic housing and the support bracket (pic of the "hole" in this thread http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=904552 ). Both can be fixed with a little duct tape, but it should'nt be this way to begin with. The other flaw is the fact that the mem shares the heat burden with the gpu due to the copper sink being one piece. You also have to use the thermal pads for the mem due to a design change on the rev. 2. Zalman solves these problems by using separate individual memsinks. But even with the flaws, the Silencer is still way better than the stock eVGA cooler.

There cooler for the AGP 6600GTs looks really nice, They even have an upgrade for the AGP-PCI=e Bridge chip which gets pretty hot. I like how the cooler also cools the memory.
I have a BFG 6600GT AGP card and with the stock cooler on it My card runs in the low 40s sometimes as low as 35c. I dont know what it runs when under stress, I need a dual monitor setup so I can watch the temps as I am playing games, or is there an easier way to do that?
What I wanted to know is if this company has a good Rep or not, I never heard of them before?
 
The Stasis product line is the "Cadillac" of VGA air coolers. If you want the best and willing to pay a premium, then Stasis is for you. Although, for 6600GT AGP, you might not have a choice. I'm not aware of any other company that makes coolers for the AGP version.
 
Ooooo... stasis has an SLi version now... Muahahahha... I must have one! :)
