Hello. I'm not sure if I am posting in the right section but when I play Battlefield 3, my screen would go black and then a few seconds later, the "Signal has been lost" message would pop up and a short buzzing sound from my headphones. This happened about two days ago and this would happen within minutes. I was lucky enough to play for an hour yesterday before this crash happened. I need to do a hard reset since nothing is responsive. I played Grand Theft Auto IV for an hour but didn't experience this crash.
I did a custom and clean installation of older drivers, the newest stable one, and the beta drivers but this crash is still occurring. I even unchecked the HD audio drivers.
I play Battlefield 3 in medium settings since I first purchased the game months ago so I am unsure why this is happening now. I always disable vertical sync and other settings that requires cpu usage to low. I have also followed the advice from EVGA tech support and saw no fluctuations in my PSU. I also didn't overclock or under-clock my graphics card and set my fan to automatically adjust based on temperatures. The temperature ran in the 80C - 90C two days ago.
My specs:
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition Kuma 2.8GHz
RAM: Patriot DDR2 4GB PVS24G6400LLK
PSU: Corsair 650W
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64Bit
Graphics: GTX 460 01G-P3-1373-AR
I know my CPU and ram is outdated since I'm still running a dual core and DDR2 but any insight or fix would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Edit: I haven't changed my resolution at all. I play all my games at 800x600 when I can. Got use to this resolution since playing CS1.6.
