Everything correct except the BIOS?

I have my new e8400 set in the bios at 450. Now with a stock multiplier of x8, that would make it clocked at 3.6Ghz(which is what the Bios says). But I am getting wierd info when logged into my computer. All the programs I have, CPUZ, all Control Panel/System Information windows tell me my computer is at 4050Ghz. Which would mean the multiplier would have to be x9. I think my bios might actually be wrong, because 3DMark06(which also says I'm clocked at 4Ghz) scores my CPU 200 points higher than when I had my computer originally clocked at 3.8Ghz. All of this started to happen after I installed my new Tuniq Tower 120. Its like I knocked something when I was installing it because when I set my computer to the original 480x8(3.84Ghz), where it was before I installed the cooler, it won't post.

What do you guys think?

Well.... I guess if I would have just looked online at what the stock multiplier is... I would have figured out it is in fact x9. Why does my BIOS tell me its x8 and locked?

I bet you never turned EIST off. I had that "issue" when I was overclocking my E2180 using a lower multi with higher fsb. I would get weird reports of how fast the processor was actually working at. Look through the bios for EIST and C1E.

EIST and C1E are actually power saving features and they usually work nice and handy even during overclocking.
Please update your motherboard's BIOS to the latest version (if you haven't done already that), here's a link - select the exact name and revision for your mobo !

@ skizzled with EIST/C1E on those "weird reports" about the CPU speed were normal ;)

I get a similar issue, I use 8x400 on my Q6600 (stock multi is 9)

many places read as 3.6GHz, but CPU-Z and BIOS reads as 3.2GHz, sorry no help there.

only thing I can think of is using the latest BIOS since Wofldales can be quite touchy with recognition
