Well my PC is in my sig but I have 512mb Corsair Xtra Low Latency PC3200 that is at 2.5-3-3-7 for overclocking purposes.

My Everest scores are:
3575mbs for Read
1318mbs for Write
48.5ns for Latency

So those scores seam low to anyone else?
 
TwinMOS SP 400, 35.1ns latency, 2-2-2-0. The stuff is only $110 for 2x512...any wonder why it's popular? ^_^

I've seen Robberbaron have 34.2ns with 1-2-2-12. Of course it was at about 275MHz with north of 1.6V at the time...

Can you get your RAS to CAS and RAS Precharge down to 2? It'll help. Your sig says you have some Crucial...from what I've seen even their Value RAM does some nice timings if you treat it right.
 
brain, what speed is that ram running at? there's a chance the ram is not in the proper slots for dual channel ;)
 
Gigabytes have "right" slots? Okay, okay, no GB knocking...even if they deserve it...

Anyway, what clock speed is it running at, and are you sure it's running at 1T not 2T?

I forget my bandwidth scores. But that latency will be hard to top. 3.65 vdimm, hahaha

I notice CPU-Z once again has trouble detecting unusual settings...some of the memory ratios available make it not read the memory speed at all. I think mine's on 3/4, and the "frequency" and "fsb:dram" entries are just grayed out.

That might be a motherboard "problem". CPU-z is showing all of my nf3 DFI timings except the RDRAM timings because, well, yeah. It's version 1.28.6.
 
Probably need to download the latest revision or whatever...haven't felt it very important though, I know it's at 225MHz even if it doesn't understand that a 3/4 ratio exists in order to calculate the value itself.

If I tweak it I should be able to get it to go up to 5/6 for 245MHz, but no more than that since the next two would be 270 and 300. Well, my good stick would do the 270...but I'm kinda attached to having 1GB.

I have the 2T timing on auto, so I am not totally sure what its doing. The FSB is a 240MHz and 2.5-3-3-7 was as low as I could get it without problems. To tell you the truth I am not real happy with this Gigabyte board anyway, it's not a good overclocker at all. The memory is only one stick so that rules out the dual channel memory problem. It feel kinda stupid buying xtra low latency ram and then having to turn up the timmings.

I'm still a little confused on what the 1T and 2T timings are all about. Can anyone fill me in?

1T is faster than 2T. That's the command rate, basically. 1T means it executes a command in 1 "tick," 2T with 2 "ticks," to oversimplify. The performance loss is negligiable at higher memory speeds.

Here is a breakdown of 10x265 in 1T and 2T, 1.5-2-2-12 timings.

1T
Read: 3919 mb/s
Write: 1520 mb/s
Latency: 35.5ns


2T
Read: 3903 mb/s
Write: 1417 mb/s
Latency: 40.0ns


So the performance hit is still fairly hefty, but not noticeable. For benching and gaming, use 1T when you can, and if you must have low latency, run a memory divider to retain 1T and low timings on an A64. Other than that, 2T shouldnt affect you too much, especially on a dual channel setup.
 
it's worth pointing out that the write speed seems to have more of an effect on performance than read speed ;)

Yeah, but in dual channel, this bottleneck all but goes away ;)
