I get these 120mm fans for my DD w/c system and they come w/ 4 screws what are about alittle shorter than half an inch. The fukn fan it self is atlease an inch thick!! How the hell do they expect you to attach the fan to anything?!?!?!?!?!?! The fan also has no threads for a screw, or anything that looks like the screw would attach to.

Honestly, how freakin dumb is Evercool? I cant even fathem how they sell it. NO, seriously, I dont even want to set up my WC after that display.

How the hell do I attach the thing to my radiator if the screw dostn even come close to even passing threw to the other side of the fan?!? The crews also doing fit my radiator holes;/ It's a BIX II.

go to Ace Hardware ask them for a 6-32 1 foot all thread screw then buy some locknuts or those nuts with round top(still a locknut but looks nicer) then get some butterfly screws... that's what I did. I cut them in 2 so I have 6 incher all thread screw. I goes pass thru the rad my evercool and the shroud with a lot of extra

Those small screws are self-tapping so you can mount them through your case and into the fan casing themself. It's not stupidness on Evercools part, they just don't expect you to mount their fans like that.

To mount those fans to your radiator, use the ones that came with your BIXII.

Correct.

Calling Evercool stupid for thinking you'd use your fans to cool a computer case is rediculous.

Holy Moley?

Evercool is not in the WC business, and not even close in assoction with HWlabs, but in the Case Cooling business. Right there you should have your answer.

I wouldn't necessarily call Evercool stupid but I have also expeienced their small fan screws that come with those 120mm aluminum fans. I'll probly just end up using some other method like getting some longer screws and bolting the fans down or something.

Good luck, hope it all works out for ya.

I like my alum fan. and I bought my own damn screws to go through my fan + case + rad. NUB!

Yeah, I'll probly end up just getting another one of these 85cfm beasts if I ever do water on my video card.....and just forget about the noise. Another option would be a couple SilenX 120mm fans that do about 54cfm with only 21dBA.....either one would be great with 1 sucking and 1 blowing.

Shrouded of course. ;)

I guess some times there's just not enough rocks... ~Forest Gump

About 99% of fans you buy will probably come with the small screws or no screws, since 99% of them are just used for case cooling or for mounting on a heatsink.

Stfu bitch:)

I used the screws that came with my radiator and everythings good. Though, if I had bought those fans for another purpose like just for blowing air threw my case, there were no screws to attach to the case.

Not true. Those little screws that came with the fan can attach the fan to anything. For example:

To attach the fan as a blowhole in the top of your case, you would install the fan (blowing up) on the inside of the case, with the screws being screwed in from the top of the case. Screw the screw through the top of the case into the fan below. Wasn't that easy? Same goes for any other part of the case, meaning that to attach it all you have to do is screw through the case into the fan.

Those little screws make sense, so please don't bitch at evercool for including them with your fan.

Mods please lock this thread.

The fans do not have a thread on them for a screw. How would you suggest attaching the screw to it w/o a place for the screw to go.

Self-tapping screws. Thats how. Not all screws have a place to screw into things. How do you screw things into wood? Just because there are no threads or holes in the wood doesnt mean that its not possible (or your not supposed to) put screws in them.

They self-tapping screws CREATE a spot to screw into. They hold better, and give you the option of screwing them into ANY part of the mounting hole, not just one specified place.

See?

Are they?

Not really. The material is different, but the concept is the exact same. Especially with a soft metal like aluminum, which allows the screws to easilly screw themselvs into the casing.

Trust me...those screws are meant to work with the fan, and you can attach the fans to ANY case in ANY location just using those screws. The only thing those screws cant be used for is mounting in areas where there isn't a lot of clearance (like your Radiator) so you have to mount through the fan.

Two of the most un[H] comments i've ever seen in my life were created in this thread.

Improvisation anyone?

Agreed. There is absolutly no cause for insults to a persons character or blatent disregard for civility in this case. Who knew this thread would become so nasty:(

I've tried my best to be nice and helpful in understanding the situation, and I'm sure infin|ty appreciates the help. What we don't need is people posting hurtfull comments (including you infin|ty) in response to a question/statement regarding a lack of understanding of a part and/or concept. Everyone was a noob at one point or another, and it is because of helpfull comments that we all learn and help each other out. Thats what these forums are for.

Moderators, please lock this thread.

I didn't mean the lack of civility part. I was surprised that someone who was setting up a WC kit could actually be held back by screw sizes or self tapping screws.

LoL

good point, people just need to lay off and realize the only reasons that people are posting is to help others out and there is no reason to get mad at one-another for it.

I think I was just alittle upset when I wrote this thread /blush. My problem was resolved though. But I personally think EC could make an easier fan set up. The fans also dont come with instructions.
