I would like to use Subscriptions in the Event Viewer of a computer running Windows 7 Pro, to monitor the "Directory Service" log of two DC's.
The problem is that when I create the subscription, and go to Select Events->By Log, that log (and any other log relating to Windows Server roles) are not there. Only the logs related to the Win7 OS the event viewer is running on are listed.
If I connect the Event Viewer to one of the DC's, the Directory Service log appears in the left pane, but you need to be connected to the local computer in order to create subscriptions.
So how can I subscribe to the Directory Service log (or any other log on a remote computer, for a service not installed on the local computer)?
