My buddy offered me his evga 7900 gto in exchange for my evga 7900gs+$50 bucks does this sound like an even trade for both parts?

Most 7900 GTOs can be OC'ed to 7900 GTX levels so you might want to keep that in mind. Not a bad trade if you ask me.

I went from a 7900gs to a 7900gto. It was about a 25% increase across the board, quite noticeable to say the least.

Keep in mind the 7900gto is in fact a 7900GTX core with slower (albeit tighter timed) memory clocks. Overclock the memory 140 mhz and you have a 7900gtx with tighter memory timings. Mine hit 720/800 stock, and the memory could go higher (though benches showed no difference with 810 vs 800 so knocked it back down).

All in all, its a great trade, especially if its to a buddy as then you could take advantage of EVGA's lifetime warranty through your buddy should anything ever go wrong.

Oh yeah! Double the memory couldnt possibly hurt either, right? :)

I got the card today and I was able to hit 690/800 with it, couldn't get the core to 700 but thats ok. The cooler is dead silent and idles at 38C so im happy with the trade.

Yeah overclocked this thing hits like 62 under load and thats that! I've been really impressed with it thus far.

The 7900GTO was an amazing buy for the price. Definitely a 7900GTX in disguise.
