My mothers computer will not connect to the internet when the ethernet card in plugged directly in to the modem, however, it works just fine when I brought it home and connected it to my router. I tried connecting it directly to my dsl modem and it would not work again.
I was on tech support, and they said for some reason my ethernet card was seeing a router ip address. ie. 196.xxx.xxx.xxx instead of 68.xxx.xxx.xxx, like it should.
We tried resetting the ip in DOS. (exec ipconfig, reset etc..) but no luck on getting it to work.
The card is:
ADMtek an983 based ethernet.
Any ideas would be great.
