Hello,

n00b question here.

I'm using ESXi 5U1, and since I need pass from a raid 1 to a raid 5, I need to back up, clear the raid and recreate it.

Now I cloned the RAID to another hard disk, but obviously it won't run because the drivers installed are for the raid.

So I want to backup my VM's so I can restore them once the raid is done and I have ESXi 5U1 reinstalled.

How can I do that?

(Note: I'd like to backup the VM's to another computer, i.e my own)

Veeam has a free product right now. Works really well actually. You could export them to OVF and copy them to another place. You could FastSCP them off to another location. There's really several different ways to do it.

Personally, I would take the OVF route especially if you're powering it off anyway.
