I've been confused about upgrading esxi for some time now. I understand how to apply updates, but what i'm not sure about is if any updates can be skipped? I'm quite far behind now on updates and it will take hours to install them one by one, rebooting after each is applied. Can i skip all of them and just apply the latest? Thanks.

Further to this...
I downloaded the latest ESXI version from the vmware site...turns out I am about 5 updates behind!??

what is the best procedure to update?

Some updates can be skipped, others must be installed in order. Generally, if you want to "skip" ahead, get the actual update rollups - those are more like windows SPs.
