So I decided to save some power and try out the new super low power Kabini's.

I got the Biostar A68N-5000 with a quad 1.5ghz cpu built in, 8gb's ram, Apex MI-008 ITX 250w case, Intel dual GB lan, and 256gb SSD.
It seems to be working good and haven't run into any issues loading it up and putting some OS's on it. Obviously I cant run a few at the same time, but I don't run more then 2 anyways.
It has the passive HS on it which work great since the temps never go up very high, even running prime95(not more then 5 degrees from idle). I have a 120mm fan flowing over the whole motherboard(in place of the dvd drive, which I dont need). I also placed 60mm fans on each side to blow the hot air out.
I will get some pics if anybody wants them.

Its pretty cheap for learning/playing. I just need to get a few more! I will be getting the Asus AM1I-A and 5350 since it has more options.

I'm curious: What kind of stuff are you virtualizing on such a little bitty box? I ran Hyper-V Server for a while on my old FX-8120 machine with 16GB in it so I could spend some time learning things about domain controllers and AD and what-not, ran as many as 8 VMs on that machine for that and it would bog down pretty bad. Of course, that was all Windows crap, too. Are you running things like CentOS images?

Like a windows OS or 2, and linux. The linux I will be installing soon is Mint 17.
Yeah, I wont be running more then 2 at a time. This is just for learning.(something to do)

I will let you know how 2 of them run at the same time.

This is the route I went for a simple two node cluster of some sort that's still in the planning stages. I have yet to try ESXI on it.
