ESXi for pfsense + Server 2008?

SMP support for VMware FT is coming. I'll wait. Very pleased with Untangle.

From people that do more with FreeBSD on VMware...I'm told not to use other drivers (VMXNET, etc). There are issues with that and to stick with E1000. I could run a lot of data through pfSense and peg two cores no problem...flip device polling around and it was maybe 1/4 of that.

I'm still confused with this answer - which install has the bad driver? Is it the VMWare tools E1000 driver or the driver that comes with pfsense 2.0 final release? Or is there no such thing as a vmware E1000 driver?

I'm sorry about my questioning, but for things like this, a very precise description is needed. :)
 
Ok - so when you say "install" you meant the pfsense install. Gotcha.

BTW is this issue still present if you use PCI passthrough for the NIC?
 
Dunno...I don't do passthrough on any devices. Defeats the purpose of virtualization to me and breaks things like vMotion and DRS, which I use in my lab.
