ESXi 5 updates?

I've looked high and low and can't seem to put a finger on how to deploy updates to an ESXi 5 machine? Everything I've seen suggests that I need to download a series of packages and apply them manually. My install is getting fairly aged now (about 9-10 months) so I'm assuming there's probably a ton of updates available for it.

Is there a guide somewhere on how to deploy and install updates? I'm amazed they didn't build a tool to automate the process, unless I've overlooked it.

Drat... yep I've seen that before and was hoping for an easier way, I guess that's the only way. I'll tear into it this evening and hopefully get everything updated.

Just one more reason to pay for things with ESX :p. Update Manager makes patching such a breeze.

Just patched mine. Wasn't all that much trouble to do manually. Just time consuming, what with the reboots in-between.
