Hello all, here is the issue. I have an ESXi 4.1 box that I just setup. I have 2x 160GB hard drives in a RAID 1 (OS drive) and then 4 2TB SATA drives in a RAID 5 (Datastore drive). The 160s work fine, however the 2TB drives in datastore2 only show as 1.47TB. ESXi does see that it is a 5.45TB RAID volume, but when I try to expand the free space it tells me that it was unable to complete the operation. When I take the 2TB drives out of RAID and add them individually to the datastore it works fine, however I would rather not do this as I would like to have the security of RAID 5. I tried deleting the Datastore and recreating it with VMFS3 with a block size of 8M but still had the same problem. Any ideas?

yep. Because ESX has a maximum volume size of 2TB-512B. Make them into smaller logical volumes.
