I tried to search this, but didn't see much concerning it.

ESA cases: I'm aware of what they are, but can anyone comment on their usefulness? I've read much about ESA and it seems like much of what it monitors can be done with other programs. Is there a benefit to actually having an ESA controller in the case?

The reason why I'm asking is because I have my eye on my the Silverstone TJ10 ESA certified case.

It's pretty useless from what I understand. The controller board is extremely limited in the devices you can attach because it allows very little maximum power draw, any sort of beefy fan or light will burn it out. But I don't know if thats standard, or if we'll be seeing beefier controller boards in other cases. Thats just the TJ-10 ESA.

TJ10 is in fact quite sexy. I've been trying to justify dropping 3 bills on a case for my new rig, but we'll see if I succeed ;) At least I don't have a wife to justify it to, just myself.

Case and Monitor I can always justify, as I'll be using these components for years to come. If we were to talk about dropping large amounts of money on the absolute premium CPU or GPU, that's a whole other story.
 
Yeah, the TJ-10 is a secksy case, but if I was going to drop that much on a case, it would be on a Lian Li PC 343. FWIW, I think that new Lian Li PC-77 kills it anyways.
