errors installing postgresql

i installed postgresql and had to uninstall it because i set it to randomly generate a password. now when i try to install it i get the error message 'internal account lookup failure. no mapping between account names and security IDs was done."

i really need to get this fixed soon, and i would very much appreciate any help. i searched online, and while others have this problem, i couldnt find any answers.
