i had this Microsoft wheel mouse optical for three months started crapping out on me and stopped working all together, put it aside for 6 months now i found it in a closet testing it again, and it seemed to work on the USB connection. (completely diff computer from 6 months ago by the way) But then it started showing same symptoms, it would cut my mouse sensitivty in half directly, no matter what program im using. Then it would sometimes go back to normal and then other times it just turn, off, no red led light or infrared light at all. Using the ps/2 filter makes symptoms even worse. Im thinking a shorted out wire, is there any way to check for this type of problem, i opened up the mouse and i didnt see anything amiss. Please post if you can help. Thanks!
