Error loading operating system

So today picked up windows 98 for 50 cents at a swap meet. I wanted to install it on a 3gb hard drive so I unplugged the ide hard drive and sata hard drive and attempted to install. I had some problems and needed to delete the files on the 3gb hard drive. I couldn't get it formatted so I just decided to hook everything back up. (Yes I thought this was no big deal)

I then hooked everything up and I get the dreaded error "Error loading operating system". (I am so stressed right now it's killing me.) What the hell do I do? I've been doing some various things, for one I cant find my sata floppy disk if I wanted to reinstall windows. I really cant find a solution and I have no clue why this is even happening Maybe a bios update would help I'm on an MSI RD480. I think this problem has to do with bios because the hard drive was not plugged. I'm not sure but I may have had this problem in the past.

Also, If I unplug the sata hard drive then it just boots into linux so there definitely is something there.

I think the last time I got this message was when I transfered my PATA hard drive files to my SATA hard drive.

PLEASE..... I am really desperate. Thanks.
I posted this in the General hardware section and got no replies. :(

It simply sounds like you need to make sure your BIOS is configured properly to boot off of the drive you had before. If you unplugged the hard drives before making any other changes or trying Win98, then nothing is wrong with the data on those drives.

I have my raptor configured as the first boot device and the pata hard drive as the second, I used to boot fine like this. I agree I don't think there is anything wrong with the data. I'm in Linux now trying to see if I can back up the files on the raptor. Unfortunately my Sata isn't recognized in Linux, I'm working on it.

Ok so suse didnt detect my sata drive at all but Knoppix did. I wanted to delete all the bottom files but it wouldnt let me. What distro would let me view my Sata hard drives and use ntfs?

Here's a pic. Knoppix didnt even have a damn cursor, it was invisible. I ended up just taking a picture of the screen. When it rains it poors I guess.

I got into windows by installing it on another drive, I tried deleting those files but same error, so now Im just backing up onto another drive and going to reinstall windows. I'm disappointed [H] users. :(

Now when I'm trying to install windows I get the error "Unmountable Boot Volume", a BSOD. Now I have to do a check disk and I hate using the 6 damn boot disks everytime.
