Everytime I tried installing XP or Win2k on my Gigabyte
GA-6VXE7+ motherboard, and after the XP or Win2k finishes copying the setup/installation on the formatted HD. Everything is fine until it reboots so the "real" setup can begin, however the setup doesn't automatically load up and it gives me the "boot from cd.." option again and everything repeats itself again. If I don't "boot from cd.." it gives me "Error Loading Operating System." I've received some suggestions that I've taken into consideration and attempted, such as using only 1 stick of ram and taking all uncessary parts during installation such as ethernet card, however all of em did nothing. I've tried "fixmbr" and "fixboot" also but failed. Only sugestions that I can try now is installating WIN 98SE and upgrading to XP or using the XP' 12 Bootdisk options. If anyone can add some more sugestions that would be great.

Have you checked your bois boot settings? Check that your booting to the lowest HDD number after the cdrom.
 
No. those are you HDD settings look for something called boot options or something like that. It's where you set the order you wish for the computer to boot. It will look something like this:

Boot device 1 - FDD
Boot device 2 - CDROM
Boot device 3 - HDD 0 (Zero or 1 is what your checking.. Making sure that it's the lowest available number)
Boot device 4 - LAN
 
Elusive : to a point; to finish installing it needs to boot off the HDD.

The problem doesn't sound like you've got bad hardware, it sounds more like your hardware's just not configured right. The computer needs to know where the HDD with the OS is so it can start loading.

If you have HDD-0 (the board might count from 1...) set in the boot sequence, you might also want to make sure that the HDD is the primary master (IE - actually HDD1)
 
Lemme clarify.

IF XP is already installed, and the problem happens, then keep the BIOS set to boot from CD, then boot the cd, when it gives the option to repair, install, or whatever, choose repair. Then type FIXBOOT, after that type EXIT. The comp will then reboot, enter the BIOS, and switch to Boot from HDD-0, remove cd, save & exit. When the computer reboots, it should automatically load XP like it should.

I had this problem yesterday, did this, and it works fine now.
 
I'm gonna sound like an idiot but I have no idea where you can access the HDD 0 or 1. The boot sequence options are basically in C, A, CD-ROM, or SCSI. Is it somewhere else in the bios options?
 
With all the information that has been given to you on here and all that you have given us I would suggest for you to get together with someone that can help you in person. I'm not saying that you are stupid at all. It's just the bios isn't something to play with and get wrong and they you and they can also go over the hardware settings. Look at it more of a hands on learning experience. Everyone has gone through it at one point or the other.

C = HDD-0 in a dos/windows-centric world.
