i have not been able to solve this one for a particular user.

skydrive pro stopped syncing. it produces the error in the title. i did some googling and followed a few fixes with no luck. due to some other office issues, i wiped his machine and reinstalled windows. with a fresh install of windows and office 365 he is still getting the error when syncing skydrive.

does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

1. Clear all browsing history on IE
2. Stop syncing all Skydrive Pro folders (have the remaining folders moved away from the original location to avoid duplicate renamed folders)
3. Run IE as administrator and resync the libraries normally

Those are the only instructions I found that made sense.

except they do not apply. i formatted and reinstalled windows and then installed office. the folders were never synced and there was no browsing history.

0x800004005 is usually an Access Denied. I'd download procmon from live.sysinternals.com and run it. While it's running, generate the problem and see if there are any access denied tracked.

Since it's skydrive and the cloud -- it may not be an access denied on your side; it could be something on Microsoft Side. Is your subscription up to date?
