So, my windows SMP has been rock solid (which is more than I can say for my GPU2) recently. Last night, I killed the service and killed GPU to play Crysis for a few like I usually do.

Well, I came back out of Crysis mode and started the GPU client and then I went back into services and started that but it gave me error 1067 saying that it had terminated unexpectedly.

What do I do? What did I do? The rig is in my sig running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

Thanks!

Okay one of you knowledgeable, unselfish folding gurus please tell us what an error 1067 is. I don't have one, but AFAIK all info is valuable ;) I've never had any problems with GPU2, just WinSMP. (of course, I'm not a gammer either )
Hey brother Wheresatom, please post your results, inquiring minds want to know. :D

DCing for the CURE

while I don't know exactly what a 1067 error is, FAH will identify that it shutdown on error and when it starts up for this run it will fold on "Standard Optimizations" meaning SSE2 instructions and others optimizations will not be used and you will fold on the the base x86 instruction set. For SMP and CPU folding, this should be noticably slower. As soon as you send that WU you will go back to using optimized code. If you desire to help this along, try restarting the service and it should go back.

Failing the above, and you know that you do not have and unstable machine, look into the -forceasm command line switch.

error 1067 is a Windows system error. It means the service wont start at all. Somehow the configuration has just completely borked itself.

I might have to go into the registry and uninstall the service and re-do the service maybe. Xilikon, are you listening? lol, these seem like the kinds of problems you always know the answer to real quick. You even referenced to it in one of your guides.

Yeah, just saw that...

Yes, you should reinstall the service mode. For uninistalling, it's best to run the fah client with -configonly and say yes to uninstall the service. When this is done, reboot then rerun the -configonly to reinstall the service. After this is done, edit the service to start with your account and password (this is what error 1067 is about).

However, this is not a guaranteed fix and my guide isn't perfect. The likehood of having a service running fine is slim at best unfortunately since they messed up the code handling the service with v6.

Thanks Xil. Thats what I was afraid of. I am not so good with command line stuff. I have to get better though. Yay for practice.

Damn, it still didn't work. What am I doing wrong? I have a screenshot of my attempt.

Click thumbnail to view. Thanks!!!

Looks as if you have a space between the f and i of -configonly.

Are you using the newer FAH exe whose deadline was extened past Feb 2nd? (today). If not go here to download it.

Yeah, as [H]ugh states, it sounds like you are trying to use an expired client.

Ok, I think I have everything squared away here, except I cant successfully complete the configuration process.

Randomly throughout the installation I will get this error:

Sometimes I feel like it is almost done. I even got to the part where I add " -smp" and then when I hit enter boom, error. What the heck. I am annoyed. Any suggestions? This seems like a Windows error not a FAH error, but I am not certain.

Are you trying to add smp to the flags section at the end of the configonly? If you are dont do that.... Windows SMP doesn't need it and also for some reason FAH doesn't like it.

I cheated the system. I remembered I had the client configuration file from before in a copied folder. I just copied and pasted that into my new C:\FAH folder. Now I just don't have it installed as a service. I am pretty frustrated with it for now so I will just live with the window for a few days or a week.

Now if the damned GPU would just stay going...
