Ermmm gateway question

i just recently traded my samsung 204b for the gateway 21" and right now i have it connected via VGA cable that was included and using a vga->dvi converter into my video card (6800gt) now i wanna use DVI and i bought a dvi cable today made by acoustic research but it doesnt work...now i have no clue what the difference is between dvi-i and dvi-d and dont know which one the acoustic research is...i was lookin around at some pics of dvi ends and the only thing different to some of them is that there are 4 pins around the long pin on the side...mine doesnt have those, but it has every other pin filled in...could someone help me find the type of cable that i need for this to run in dvi? thanks a bunch!

I was considering the 204b. What were your thoughts about it?
 
ok cool i got my DVI cable to work...somehow lol...the samsung was a good monitor, but i just wanted the widescreen and i was originally gonna get the gateway but we were sold out...but then i just traded it when we got them back in stock
