I have been running EQ2 on my new rig, and gameplay is fantastic... except with a couple issues.

1. My characters shadow will disapear from time to time. The only way that I can get it back is by exiting the game and coming back in. Making setting adjustments have no affect.

2. The game will just shutdown if I leave my character idle (for instance, in trader mode in my apartment). I can play for hours at a time with no issue, until I leave my toon sit idle.

I am overclocked, but I have tried the game with stock settings and still have the same problems. Additionally, I have tried a fresh install of EQ2, windows xp, nvidia board drivers, nvidia graphics drivers, and direct x. I have the latest drivers for all components, as recommended by Sony. Additionally, I have tried several bios versions, to no avail.

Anyone have any other suggestions or anyone having the same issues? Help would be appreciated!

Well, I figured out one items cause...

I have a station pass for Sony, and an old friend of mine that used to share my EQ1 account with me was jumping on and playing EQ1 while I was playing EQ2. It seems that EQ1 takes priority and you can log into EQ2 and play for about 10-minutes before it boots you out. Unbelievably, in thier wisdom, Sony does not let you know the reason you are being booted from EQ2, they just close the program on you.

All this hair pulling for no reason... I am going to choke my friend when I see him next.

BTW, I changed my account password.

Anybody else on the shadow issue?

Item #2 was fixed when I discovered the processor was dying - this was easy to determine when the computer shutdown and would not boot, no matter what I did.

I did find out from Asus that a quick check on whether a processor is bad or not is to remove it from the socket and try to turn on your computer. If the computer turns on, the cpu is bad.

What kind of vod card is it? Because i know my vid card is getting old and sometimes when i play CS:S the shadows are squares or are just not there. So maybe something to do with your vid card. and well you have discovered number 2 so not gonna say anything about that.
